Early Years:

Born in Galesburg, Illinois in 1950 and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1968. Received his BBA and MBA in Economics and Finance from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in 1971 and 1973 respectively and in 1977, earned a Graduate Degree in Commercial and Real-Estate Bank Lending from the University of Oklahoma. In 1971, Bob received an Army Officer's Commission (through R.O.T.C. at UTEP) in Air Defense Artillery and completed his Active (32nd Air Defense Missle Command) in 1973 and Reserve Duties in 1991.

Local Service Accomplishments:

Co-Chaired the Annual Boy Scout Fund Raising Campaign from 1992-95, Carl Sandburg College Foundation Trustee from 2003-08, OSF St. Mary's Hospital Area-Wide Board retired 2009 (Former Chairman 2007-8), Knox College Community Representative 2010-2011 for the Presidential Search Committee, Galesburg Downtown Representative for the Strategic Plan 2008-2009, retired Senior Active of Rotary  1981-2015 and is a Paul Harris Fellow. In 2003, Bob was presented with the Galesburg Chamber of Commerce's George E. Warren Outstanding Business Leader of the Year Award. In 2010, he was presented with the Eagle Award for being the Advocate of the Year, as recognized by the Entrepreneurial Support Network of West Central Illinois. Bob now serves on the Wells Fargo Banks Community Board, Galesburg Downtown Council Board (Chairman 2001-3, 2014-Present), Knox County Area Partnership for Economic  Development Board (2013-2020 & Vice Chairman), Galesburg Business Technology Center Board (Former Chairman 2006-8), Temple Sholom Board (Former President 2002-3 and current Treasurer), Soangetaha Country Club Board (Former President 2010 through 2012), Inducted into the Galesburg Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015 for being a member of the 1966 GHS Golf Team, North American Railway Hall of Fame Inductee Board, National Railroad Hall of Fame Founder & President Emeritus, Alternatives for the Older Adults (Board/VP* 2011-2021 & 2019-2021*) and the Knox College Business Advisory Council. Galesburg Public Art Commission Board Member.

Working Background:

Bob worked in Commercial and Correspondent Banking from 1972 through 1978 in El Paso, Texas and Houston, Texas. Starting in the construction/development business in 1978 in Atlanta, Georgia, he has built over 2,400 homes, 16 office warehouse projects (500,000 square feet), renovated ten office condominium projects, renovated three bank buildings, converted two bank buildings to office use, has completed 600,000 square feet of commercial renovations and zoned/developed over 12,000 single family lots. The largest volume of construction in one year, over the last 42 years, was commercial and residential construction of $28,000,000. As of 1992, in addition to developing commercial centers, single family homes and lots; Bob has expanded to commercial property management, where he is currently the President and Chairman of the Bondi Building Corporation.

Other Public Service:

In the states of Texas, Georgia and Illinois, Bob has served on a number of Bank, College, Business, Community Service Boards, and Chamber of Commerce Boards. He worked six years as a National Director of the Home Builders Association of America. Bob served as a Trustee of Kennesaw State College/Georgia in 1986-1991, University of Texas El Paso Board of Trustees for the School of Business 2000-2003, Houston Chamber of Commerce (Life Member of the Board since 1978). Vice Chairman* (ie: 12-1-2016 until 12-3-2018*) of the Knox County Board of Supervisors & Board Member 2013-Present.

Bondi was selected to serve as a community adviser for the design development of the Railroad Grade Leveling Projects 2007-12. Three of Four  Projects are completed, with the final East Main Street Underpass schedule for completion by 2017.
